Born in Halifax, NS, Arthur Lloy drew and sketched landscapes and seascapes from his earliest years, then studied painting and drawing four years at the Nova Scotia College of Art (1958-1962) and the St, Mary’s University, under Marion Bond, Donald MacKay, Ellen Lindsay, and Julius Zarand. In his work he had been influenced by the Group of Seven, French Impressionists Tom Thompson. He is was a painter of landscapes, particularly of brush country, also seascapes. Arthur Lloy was a civil servant employed with the Department of National Defense at H.M.C. Dockyard, Halifax. He was a member of the N.S. Society of Artists.
